Caution - Wild Girls!

Tonight i attended the Bachelorette Party of a good friend that started out on a boat on the Clinton River followed by a few bars including the Eastside Tavern.  For those of you who know me you know i do not dance but for some reason my body was taken over by an evil spirit and i danced the night away. Ladies thanks for the laughs and memories! 

House Style

I love my house, mostly because of the people and things in it but i have to say it does not really represent my "House Style".  I have always love old homes with character, beautiful wood work and big porches.  I love to image what the homes must look like on the inside and what is in the attic. I have passed this green house in Mt. Clemens many times and i always remark how much i like it, so today i took a photo of it. I used to shoot photos for the real estate industry and had the opportunity to peruse some very cool homes but i am constantly intrigued by homes and if you own a beauty like this don't be surprised if i come knocking on your door one day asking if i can take a peek.

Sunflower

I have a wonderful neighbor who is kind enough to let me photograph her wonderful Sunflower's. She is also the proud owner of a very cool Johnny Cash barn - yeah you heard me, a barn with Johnny Cash on the side. Fallen

There's a storm a brewnin' and it's not on any weather map, it's happening inside my house right now.  The "Crack down on Clutter Campaign" is still in full force and in addition to that i am working on creating a better functioning studio downstairs as well as a bedroom makeover. Of course i had to clean my room so that i could take BEFORE photos because don't you love to look at a before and after photo of a remodel?  Didn't get outside much today except for a quick trip to JoAnn's but i did step out long enough to capture this red leaf, i love all the colors fall but am partial to the red leaves.

Lady Liberty + American Flags = Love

I have to say that i love all things NYC and these Lady Liberty and American Flag stamps are no exception.  I wanted to frame them and hang 'em on the wall.


What things or places make you weak in the knees?

One With Nature

Just felt like i had to soak up some of the great outdoors today because i know what is just around the corner, shhhhhh don't mention it.  So after my session with a great family i took a few shots around the park and then i checked out the Cemetery across the street.  I love to walk around a Cemetery and look at the dates on the grave stones, love the history there.


Do you think it is weird to spend time in a cemetery?

Twenty Five on the Twenty Fourth

I wish today's photo could have been Crystal blowing out 25 candles on her birthday cake but she was in kzoo today attending Irish Fest. We will have to catch up and celebrate her quarter century milestone.


Instead today i caught up on some work and had a movie night with cliff, we watched Bridesmaids, which was hilarious.

Just Married

Just taking a minute out to congratulate Matt & Michelle on their nuptials, you guys look marvelous and best of luck to you guys!

Brody Boy

Brody is the brother of one of my favorite models Addi and she was happy to bring him along and show in the ropes today at his first photo session with me.  We only get to shoot once a year or so because they live out of state. Apparently Addi is a pro at cracking up her baby brother so i was glad to have her help me out.

Abby

What happens when beautiful people get together and get married? Well in some cases they have a beautiful baby and that is exactly what happened in this case.  I got to meet Abby this morning and photograph her. She was just precious.

Mt. Clemens

Spent the morning in court today at Macomb County Courthouse, nothing you will see on the 6 O'clock news, just there supporting my dad and his sewer problem.

Raindy Days and Mondays

make me want to read, so i went to the library this afternoon!  I spent some time perusing photo books and then checked out some others to read at home.  I love our library it's a happy cozy place and i could spend hours there.

Four Females Find Funkadelic Fun

One of my favorite art shows to attend is Funky Ferndale Art Show, it is such an eclectic mix of unique affordable and funky art.  So that is precisely what Dawn, Sharon, Sue and i did today and we could not have asked for better weather.  What a great way to spend a Sunday.  

I also made a quick stop by my cousins house where a fundraiser for Breast Cancer was in full swing with raffles, a tiki bar and tons of great food.  Good Luck Maureen in reaching your goal.

CMU

Went to visit my oldest niece at Central today. We walked around campus and had dinner at one of her favorite restaurants up there, The Italian Oven and made a trip to Walmart to pick up some essentials. Fun fact about my trip to Central is the only other time i have been there was just shy of twenty five years ago when i went up their to visit her dad, my bother, with Crystal just after she was born.

Down in the "D"

Went to the "D" tonight and i find myself completely in love with the city and it's urban landscape. The beautiful colors of graffiti, red brick, architecture rich in character unrivaled by today's buildings and as always the characters you see along the way.  As i stepped into the Guardian Building i felt like i was stepping into a wonderland, i could'nt crane my neck back far enough to take it all in. Oh and the smells, at least where i spent a good chunk of my time near greek town, are just delish! 

On a side note the graffiti i photographed today remained virtually untouched from the last time i photographed it a couple of years ago, it's as if there is a code even among street artist to not destroy someone else's work.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I started looking for inspiration for today's photo and i remembered part of the reason i created the "SheCave" was so that i could fill it with things that inspire me and make me feel happy. Some times i pair things together that other wise make no sense any where but  the "SheCave", like this green vase whose shape and color i love where i stuck a paper flower and my Pepe's sock darn. I love having something with so much history close by and some times i touch it and imagine the stories it would tell if it could.  Back when my Pepe used it to repair socks 60 or more years ago people didn't have the luxury or money to run out and buy new socks if theirs got a whole in them. Pepe was a carpenter by trade and had big, rough, wrinkled hands and i love to think of those hands doing something as delicate as fixing my mom's socks.

So where do you find your inspiration?

Baby Blues!

My, my what blue eyes you have Gracyn.  I got a bit more than i expected when i stopped by to talk with Garret today because he had certain blued eyed devil over.  She is just as chubbly as delicious as ever and i have to run out and grab my camera to get a few shots.
