I caught the fabricatin' bug!

I recently tried my hand at quilting, after Sharon bought me a "jelly roll"! For those of you non-quilters that is a term for pre-cut strips of material rolled into a cute little bundle. Many people have posted tutorials on how to quickly put together a quilt top naming the technique "jelly roll race". While I was in no hurry to complete this task I did in fact sew the quilt top in a couple hours.

With this technique you sew the strips end to end until they are all sewn together and then:

you will have a long strip of fabric almost 1800 inches long. After folding it in half several times and sewing it each time you end up with a quilt top.

After lots of thinking, sketching, creating, more sewing and a ten hour drive in the back of an RV where I hand sewed the binding a quilt was born.

Naw, I'm just kidding! This was the view inside my car when I took it for a much needed car wash, it will probably rain now.

"That's a Wrap"

Or so I thought when i cleverly created my Taco in a leaf of Romaine lettuce, curled up and cupped just waiting to hold all my goodies.  It was just Cliff and I for dinner tonight and my dilemma was do I open a new box of Taco shells just to use one or two leaving the other 10 to go bad? (Cliff was covered he was using the last couple wraps)

That is when the idea hit me to create a lettuce wrap, I barely made it through the first bite when i realized this was not going to do.

Just how much lettuce does one need to make a lettuce wrap?

Add this to life's pressing questions like - How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Namaste

Picked up a new habit, Monday night Yoga.
Feels good to do something for myself where no one needs anything from me!

If you haven't tried it you should. The room is dark when we do it and there is something very soothing about this atmosphere.

Divine Intervention

As a believer of signs and such I was more than thrilled to find this little statue in the dresser I bought yesterday.

My mother loves the Saints and little religious statues and has even mail ordered the patron Saint for gambling because one can never have to many people Godly or otherwise on your side when you are gambling.

Joseph and Jesus (i think, someone correct me if I am wrong) first appeared when i was checking out the dresser to see if it was sturdy and of course upon laying on eyes on them I realized this was a sign to buy this dresser.

If you recall some time had passed from the initial viewing of the dresser and my subsequent trip back to get it and bring it home. When we did get home i was so excited and I wanted to show Cliff my little bonus and pulled open the drawer only to discover that they were gone.  Well I was disappointed but quickly came to the conclusion that someone there at the Salvation Army needed it more than I did and moved on.

Well since I was on an accelerated pace to "git 'er done" I was ripping things apart left and right when who should appear again, yep Joseph and Jesus!

Wham! Bam! Thank You Ma'am!

Yeah, it was like that!  "I had this vision", these words can stop my husbands camo slippers in his tracks, but seriously I had this vision that i wanted a dresser or buffet as my TV stand. You know some MidCentury find the was built well and could take a beating and a coat of a paint.  It never came to be and we had to compromise on a "screw it together yourself" TV stand which has served it's purpose for a couple years.

But then today I saw "it" a dresser that would indeed serve my purpose and as fast as my little mind could run i was making a plan and mulling it over twice and a few minutes later i declared "I'm buying it!"

Some of you may or may not know but i know longer have my pick-up truck, a girls best friend, so I asked my partner in crime, Sharon, if the hubby would mind me borrowing his pick-up.

So within 2 hours of this glorious moment I was at home sanding, wiping and painting my new TV stand.

As I type this post (Sunday, yeah a day later) it is basically complete and in position after a second coat of a paint and some reassembly.

So like I said Wham! Bam! Thank You Ma'am! It's done! (photos of completed project to follow in a day or two)
